Fallon’s Nationally-Ranked Chess Club, Now Open to Alumni and Select Tri-Valley Players!

Since 2015, the Fallon Middle School Chess Club has excelled on and off the board:

- 2x K-8 State Co-Champions

- 2023 K-6 and K-8 National Scholastic Online Champions (2022 runners-up)

- U.S. representative, World School Teams Championship 2025

- Seven nationally age-ranked players

- 60-80 members each year (most all 3 years)

- 2025 Silver Award winner for Excellence in School Chess from the International Chess Federation (FIDE, forthcoming)

Through top-notch coaching by passionate community members and the cultivation of a healthy competitive environment, Fallon Chess has helped more than 500 students reach their over-the-board potential, sharpen their critical thinking, and build lasting friendships with classmates and friends.

Now in its 11th year, the Fallon Chess Club continues its award-winning format: 

1. Affordable Thursday after-school (3:30 to 5 PM) tournament training classes

2. For all levels of players, from novices up to 1600+ rating

3. Engaging lessons and 1:1 game analysis by adult coaches and Emerald HS student coaches

4. Targeted homework that accelerates improvement

5. Weekly USCF-rated games with trophies for top finishers, and free online tournaments with gift card prizes

What is New?

1. New home at nearby (0.3 miles) John Green Elementary in Dublin (Walking from Fallon? Here is the Safe Route to Green.)

2. Now also open to Fallon alumni; experienced players Grades 4 and up from other Tri-Valley schools may also join

3. Professionally managed by Emerald Hills Chess, with help from parent volunteers (tuition rebates possible - please email [email protected])

4. Make up classes at our Sunday AM and Wednesday night small group tournament training classes.

• 10 Classes: $250 (trial classes and pro-rated late signups available)

Spring

• January 15 – May 14, 2026

• 15 Classes: $375

Full Year

• September 18 - May 14, 2026

• 25 classes: $600 ($25 discount, plus an additional $25 early bird discount by Sept. 4)
