Join the Fun & Challenge Your Mind! Following our six other after-school clubs in Pleasanton, we are excited to launch a fun-but-intensive after-school chess club on Tuesdays at Alisal! Besides over-the-board skills, your child will develop their critical thinking, problem-solving, concentration, and resilience, all while making friends and playing alongside classmates in a competitive but supportive environment. Our curriculum (with suggested homework) is taught by enthusiastic, professional adult coaches. It will challenge students of all skill levels, including: Experienced US Chess Federation-rated tournament competitors Online chess enthusiasts ready to compete over the board Beginners learning the game for the first time We also hold tournaments where members can win trophies and earn and boost their USCF ratings, as well as play kid-pleasing chess variants like bughouse, Chess960, and blitz. Students can register for the fall session, the full year, or parts of the fall or spring sessions as their schedules dictate. We also provide makeup classes at several convenient Tri-Valley locations. Whether your child is new to chess or already winning trophies, our club provides a welcoming environment where every student can learn, improve, and have fun. About Us Emerald Hills Chess is a Dublin-based nonprofit whose co-founders have nearly 20 years of combined experience teaching and promoting chess. We serve more than 300 students through nearly 20 after-school chess clubs and tournament training programs across the Tri-Valley. Our original club, Fallon Middle School Chess, has won numerous team championships, including the 2023 National Online Championship, produced 7+ nationally age-ranked players, and has been recognized by the International Chess Federation (FIDE) for excellence in chess education.
